In my twenty-six year college admission career, I have discovered that there is no greater pleasure or honor than to convey an offer of admission. Congratulations, Robert, the committee on admission is impressed with your personal qualities and accomplishments as well a your scholastic record at the Marist School (my WHAT??!!) and is pleased to offer you admission to the Kalamazoo College Class of 2010. The Committee also took into consideration the support and counsel of your Kalamazoo College admission officer, Kate Vickery.
(Here's where the Wow was about to set in for me:)
Kate Could Tell from the moment she met you that you were a perfect fit with "K" College. I couldn't agree with her more, especially following our coffee date down in Atlanta. Your diverse interests, from theater to music to multicultural events to the environmental club at your school show me that you are a perfect liberal arts student. You have also been described as an "impact person," which is evident by the outstanding efforts you have shown to inspire other students to be active citezens. Your work with Amnesty International and the Political Awareness Club is truly inspirational, but above all, I admire your reflections how "greatness can be found in simplicity."(oh my gosh, he just quoted the essay I submitted!) It was so great to meet with you during my trip to Atlanta -- it helped bring all this to life!
Our offer illustrates three important points. First, you posess the character and qualities necessary to benefit from the rigorous and stimulating life at our college. More importantly, we have every confidence that you are prepared to accept the challenges and opportunities of our nationally regarded K-Plan. Finally, while competition for space in this class is at a premium, your exceptional record qualified you for admission.
I invite you to consider seriously why since 1833 generations of young men and women have chosen to enrich their personal and professional lives by experiencing this special college. Congratulations!
